Why Poetry? Why not?! Poetry offers a creative opportunity for people of all ages to relate and understand each other, an opportunity to recognize what we have in common and to celebrate what is different. Poetry invites personal discovery and at the same time, builds a stage for public presentation. A poetic awareness opens the window wide to possibility.
In this interactive ‘pencils down’ poetry writing workshop, East Hartford’s Inaugural Poet Laureate, as well as published writer, performer and teacher, Elizabeth Thomas will provide some ideas to get your creativity and your pencils moving. All writing levels are welcome! This program is intended to help promote literacy and the power of written and spoken word. Elizabeth's focus is to help build writing communities, and that poetry is meant to be heard out loud and in person. At the conclusion of the workshop, there will be time to share out loud what you’ve written, if you so choose. No registration required.
