Annual Windsor Freedom Trail Run; presented by the Windsor Freedom Trail Committee-Saturday, September 19,  2026, from 5:30a.m. – 8:30am- starting point: Archer Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 320 Hayden Station Road, Windsor.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Windsor Freedom Trail. Learn about and celebrate the rich history of the Windsor Freedom Trail with your family and friends by visiting sites that are associated with African American contributions, heritage, movement towards freedom, and the Underground Railroad.

The run is approximately 3.9 miles.  (A bus will follow the runners if rest is needed).  The Run will begin at the Archer Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church and will end at the Riverside cemetery and the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on East Street in Windsor to visit our new site that honors the African American soldiers who volunteered to serve during the Civil War in the U.S. Colored Regiments.  Along the run, participants will stop at each of the Windsor Freedom Trail sites including the Palisado Cemetery - Nancy Toney grave site, the William Best House, and the Joseph Rainey House to learn about the sites.  Upon returning to the church, the group will visit the history of the historic Archer Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery.

A country style breakfast will be provided for event participants after the run.
