Join naturalist Aimee Gelinas M.Ed, Director and co-founder of the Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center on a winter ecology hike (or snowshoe) through Northwest Park. Participants will learn the basics about observing and identifying wildlife movement, tracks and patterns, signs of wildlife such as scent markings, scat and other wildlife activity that gives a glimpse into the lives of wildlife that stay active in winter.
Along the way, participants will learn how to identify evergreen and deciduous trees in winter by bark, buds and branching patterns plus evergreen ferns and plants. Exploring the woods in winter provides an opportunity to understand how fauna and flora adapt to the cold. Visit www.tamarackhollow.com and www.tamarackhollownatureandculturalcenter.org. Sponsored by The Friends of Northwest Park. Ages: 12+ (Participants under the age of 18 must attend with a parent/guardian.) Price: $12 Windsor residents; $16 Nonresidents; Free for FONWP Members.
