Youth Mental Health First Aid is a course tailored to equip parents, caregivers, educators, health professionals, and community members with the tools to support adolescents (ages 12–18) facing mental health or addiction challenges, including crises. Designed for adults who interact regularly with youth, the course provides essential skills to recognize, understand, and respond effectively.
Participants will explore:
Common mental health challenges in youth
Typical adolescent development
A practical 5-step action plan for handling both crisis and non-crisis situations
Anxiety and depression
Substance use disorders
Conditions involving psychosis
Disruptive behavior disorders (e.g., ADHD)
Eating disorders
This course emphasizes empowerment through education, promoting recovery and resilience to help young people thrive.
