A popular local outdoor holiday lights display is even bigger and brighter this year! Windsor resident Jason Santos again is sharing his love for the season by showcasing his front lawn with over 60 inflatable holiday characters and music, while collecting food for the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank at the same time. From now through December 25 - Christmas night, everyone is invited to come view his outdoor wonderland at 25 Tiffany Drive in Windsor, Conn. The colorful display is open every night from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., except for very windy, snowy, or rainy nights.
There is no admission fee and, instead, Santos places a large food collection box near the candy cane walkway and encourages visitors to bring a nonperishable canned or boxed of food item to donate to the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. “I am very fortunate to be able to share these holiday decorations with others, and it feels like the right thing to do to give back and support our neighbors who need a little extra help during the holidays, says Jason Santos.
“This is the fifth year that my family and friends have helped me set up this display, the largest one since we began,” explains Jason Santos. “They include illuminated Santa's, reindeer, elves, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, characters from “Frozen” and “Minions”, and an inflatable firetruck and train. Santos’ live fruit trees and his house are decorated with bright holiday lights, with a 25-foot-high candy cane arch over the driveway, offering many places to take photos and ‘selfies.”
The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1967 as the Windsor Community Service Council (WCSC). The all-volunteer Board, along with our partners at Windsor Social Services, works to accomplish our Mission of ensuring that no Windsor resident goes hungry, is cold, or is without basic necessities. The generosity of local individuals, businesses, civic and religious organizations provides for 95 percent of the WF&FB’s annual operating budget. If you are a Windsor resident and not a current client of the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank but find yourself in need of food assistance, call the Windsor Social Services office at 860-285-1839, Mondays through Fridays.
